Amidst the wave of ongoing terrorist attacks taking place in the city of Mumbai in India, the local Chabad House was overtaken by gunmen. Gavriel Holtzberg, his wife Rivka and their young son, along with several Israelis, have been taken hostage inside the Chabad House.
Chabad.org is reporting that the son was rescued from the house. JPost reports that Sandra Samuel, the cook at the Chabad house, heroically grabbed the child and ran from the house. Samuel believes the parents are alive but unconcious.
For ongoing information, you can watch a live stream on IBN (which appears to be like CNN for India). As of right now, they have live footage of the Indian police readying to storm the Chabad House (known as Nerimon House).
Please daven for Gavriel Noach ben Freida Bluma and Rivka bas Yehudis, along with anyone else endangered by the attacks.
Over 100 people have been killed in the attacks in Mumbai. We’ll update this post with details as we receive them.
UPDATE: after a prolonged battle with terrorists inside the Mumbai Chabad House, Indian forces have surpressed the terrorist threat, but unfortunately, preliminary reports are that seven hostages inside the building were killed. It is as yet unconfirmed, but believed that the Holtzbergs are among the slain. We will have more reports as they come in.
UPDATE: Chabad.org posts that R. Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka were killed in the attacks. Their son Moshe survived
