As first reported in the Jewish Times, http://www.jewishtimes.com . Please give credit where it’s due.
Actually, WBAL reported it before the Jewish Times: http://wbal.com/apps/news/templates/story.aspx?articleid=28734&zoneid=2
Note that the Jewish Times did not give credit to WBAL either.
For some reason the rumors around town are more in the range of 50-80. I also heard they closed Yeshiva for Shabbos, which means that the community may be flooded with the virus this weekend. I sure hope it doesn’t, but I’m guessing it’s going to hit the community hard.
I heard same thing as Alan Laz…80 – 50 in mechina and 30 in Yeshiva…was at 2 Ner Israel weddings last 2 nites…oy vey!!
It has already hit the community — lots of kids were out of school sick in late May. The only difference is that some people were actually tested at NIRC. Also: they did not close the Yeshiva for shabbos, although it was a regular-scheduled out-shabbos.
I heard from a reliable source “It’s not a matter of if, but when”
Clarification:
5 confirmed cases — most of the boys who had it didn’t get tested. Around 50 people were mildly sick, but they didn’t get tested. The virus going around the yeshiva was a mild flu. The Board of Health was not nervous from it; no reason anyone else needs to be.
Just wash hands like you should to prevent transmission of disease. No big deal.
It was a regular off Shabbos for the Yeshiva (not mechina, who had it the week before anyway).
